About Diarrhea Home Remedies


Constipation is a common word has different meanings in different people. Some people interpret as a constipated bowel movement does not irregular, some say constipation is the feces that hard so it must be strong when straining to defecate, and some say that constipation is a condition in which the feces did not feel complete.

Ordinary people often assume that normal defecation is done once a day. Whereas in fact happened, less than 50% of adults can defecate once a day and a majority of adults experiencing irregular defecation. Generally, the elderly often complain of constipation. This is caused due to the reduced feeling of wanting to defecate in the elderly.

In health sciences, Constipation is defined as defecation less than three times per week. Constipation is categorized as severe constipation if less than one times a week.

Theoretically, constipation due to slow digestion or in other words a relatively slow intestinal peristalsis. This slow motion may occur along the intestine from the stomach until the end of the intestine [95% occurred in the large intestine]

Causes of constipation include:

  1. Drugs - Anti biotic, heart drugs, tranquilizers and others in some people can cause constipation.
  2. Laxative - Prolonged usage of laxatives which worked first as chemical can cause constipation. Therefore suggested a possible use of laxatives.
  3. Diet - Fibrous foods rarely [vegetable, fruit] and less drinking
  4. Help but feel like defecating habits - If too often resist defecation can cause constipation.
  5. Changes in hormone - Hormonal changes can affect constipation. Usually, hormonal changes occur in hypothyroid, pre-menstrual period [of time to menstruation] and in pregnancy. Besides diabetes, scleroderma, Parkinson's, spinal trauma patients and patients with multiple sclerosis are also vulnerable to constipation.
